Their names are Maïa, Alcyone, Asterope, Céléno, Electra, Taygete and Mérope.

In Greek mythology, the Pleiades are seven sisters, daughters of the Titan Atlas, who carried the World on his shoulders, and the Oceanid Pleione.

All were companions of Artemis, the goddess of the hunt. During a walk, the warrior Orion was attracted by their great beauty and for 5 years, pursued them. To save them, Zeus transformed them into doves.

It was only upon their death that they were placed in the sky to form the constellation Pleiades.
